Attorney M. Jean Holbert is an Attorney at the Reaves Law Firm, PLLC. Attorney Holbert is licensed to practice law in Tennessee State Courts and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
Ms. Holbert was born and raised in Memphis, TN, and she attended high school at the Hutchison School. Ms. Holbert completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi, Sally McDonnell-Barksdale Honors College, where she majored in English and minored in Political Science and French. Ms. Holbert graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts. During her time at Ole Miss, Ms. Holbert was inducted into many honors societies, including Phi Beta Kappa.
Ms. Holbert earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Ms. Holbert was awarded the Legal Methods Best Appellate Brief Award during her first year of law school. During her second and third years of law school, Ms. Holbert served on the University of Memphis Law Review, first as a staff member and then as an editor.
After graduation, Ms. Holbert started her legal career at the Law Offices of Gary Green, PLLC, where her practice focused primarily on Personal Injury, Nursing Home Neglect, and Medical Negligence cases. Ms. Holbert was promoted to Managing Attorney of the Memphis office of Law Offices of Gary Green in 2010, and she served in that capacity until 2015. During her tenure at Gary Green, PLLC, Ms. Holbert obtained in excess of $11 million in settlements and verdicts for the firm’s clients.
After briefly opening her own practice, Ms. Holbert pursued her passion for helping low-income individuals in dire need of legal representation as a Staff Attorney in the Fair Housing Center at Memphis Area Legal Services, Inc. Ms. Holbert later transitioned to the role of IV-D attorney for Shelby County Child Support Services, before being appointed a judicial administrative Hearing Officer for the State of Tennessee in 2018. Ms. Holbert’s experiences in these roles have provided her with legal expertise in a variety of areas, as well as an acute understanding of the many legal hardships faced by members of our community.
Attorney Holbert joined the Reaves Law Firm, PLLC so that she could apply the experience, knowledge, and skills she gained throughout her career to help injured individuals suffering as a result of the negligence of others. Ms. Holbert is happy to return to her first legal passion, representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases. She currently holds the position of Lead Pre-Litigation Attorney.
